About Us

The Feral Dogs of Avondale Mill and Friends of SAS are a dedicated group of volunteers assisting the homeless dogs of Sylacauga, Al and the city managed Sylacauga Animal Shelter.  We rescue, buy additional medicines needed at the shelter, provide much needed veterinarian care, foster and transport shelter dogs to out of state rescues so that they may have a chance for a loving home through the rescues we secure for them.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization.   Our purpose is "To provide care, shelter and new homes to animals in need, and to prevent overpopulation and unwanted animals by promoting spay and neutering".

Help is always needed.    Please contact us if you would like to join this all volunteer group.   Or stop by the Sylacauga Animal Shelter if you can help walk or bathe a dog.

Last year over 1660 animals were transported to rescues all over the United States! Over 230 cats were adopted from our Petsense kennels and also in 2021, we assisted 1082 families with low cost spay and neuter vouchers.  Thank you for supporting us and the many homeless animals of Sylacauga, AL.
