The Feral Dogs of Avondale Mill and Friends of Sylacauga Animal Shelter

VOLUNTEERS

The Feral Dogs of Avondale Mill and Friends of SAS are a dedicated group of volunteers assisting the homeless dogs of Sylacauga, AL and the city managed Sylacauga Animal Shelter.  We rescue, buy additional medicines needed at the shelter, provide much needed veterinarian care, foster and transport shelter dogs to out of state rescues so that they may have a chance for a loving home through the rescues we secure for them.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization.   Our purpose is "To provide care, shelter and new homes to animals in need, and to prevent overpopulation and unwanted animals by promoting spay and neutering".

Help is always needed.    Please contact us if you would like to join this all volunteer group.   Or stop by the Sylacauga Animal Shelter if you can help walk or bathe a dog.

Anya came in to SAS in July with a badly injured eye.  With donations, volunteers were able to obtain the medical care she needed.  Anya was adopted after her eye was removed.
Sampson immediately moved to the vet upon being brought into the shelter as found.  Sampson was left behind when his owners moved.  Sampson was adopted after spending 2 weeks at the Medical Center.

Quinn and Caroline

recently moved to rescue after being treated for Heartworm disease.  Currently there are 13 dogs at the shelter waiting for treatment.  Fosters are needed so they too will have their chance for adoption and rescue.  In most southern shelters they would not receive this chance.

Cats too!

Volunteers sought treatment for Winter immediately as she entered the shelter in this condition.  Happy tails for this young kitten as medical staff adopted Winter immediately after surgery.

Ralph waited 8 long months for a home.  He received heartworm treatment in June and moved to a rescue in New Jersey.
